WHAT DO YOU HOPE TRAINEES GAIN FROM YOUR PORTION OF THE TRAINING?
I hope it’s a spark for a new beginning. That each student is inspired through meditation for their own personal growth, whether in our Grassroots class or on their own.

DESCRIBE YOUR TEACHING STYLE:
My approach in my Meditation Flow class reflects my deep love and commitment to the ancient teachings of the Dharma. The view that our minds are not stuck and that we can truly change our minds and develop our hearts out of all unhappiness and all negative behavior to our fullest potential. Drawing inspiration from the unbroken lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, Taoism, The Healing Arts, and the teachings of Yin, I weave in movement through my experience of fitness and health. For example, we flow and meditate with mantra, mudra, the teachings of chakras, Traditional Chinese Medicine, vayus, and bandhas, resulting in a more peaceful and happy mind. Through this style of meditation, students shift from conceptual understanding to a more direct lived experience. In most all of my meditation classes, I read books, poems, and stories about life that correlate to the purpose of the meditation. Every class has a purpose that engages with the seasons. The change in seasons is used as metaphor for spiritual, emotional, or physical knowledge, reminding us how to live in harmony more deeply.

WHAT DO YOU BRING TO THE GRASSROOTS YOGA COMMUNITY?
I’m a devoted yogi who studies daily. I believe the best thing for me to do is keep studying, keep learning, and keep developing my heart for all those around me. My interest is an education of the heart-mind rather than external achievement.

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT YOU:
I live with my husband and our daughter. We have three cats and a dog. Being in nature is my sanctuary, so I spend a lot of time hiking in Ojai’s hills and beyond. My personal journey involves regular retreats with ordained Tibetan Buddhist monks and nuns who are the direct students of The Dalai Lama.
