WHERE WERE YOU BORN AND RAISED?
A small farming community in Grand Meadow, Minnesota.

TELL US A BRIEF HISTORY OF YOUR PERSONAL PRACTICE
I had experienced yoga here and there, taking a random class every now and again throughout college. It wasn't until I traveled to India that I was fully immersed in my yoga practice and it truly hit home. Through my early morning practices while abroad, I felt a sense of calm and contentment that had been lost while living in busy NYC. Upon arrival home, I continued to practice consistently and my journey led me to my first teacher training. From there, my life was forever changed and the trajectory of my path took a turn toward wellness and healing.

TELL US A BRIEF HISTORY OF YOUR TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I began teaching yoga in 2010 as a means to share the tools that helped me cultivate a happy life. I've studied numerous styles of yoga, philosophy and healing tools. I've been blessed to learn from amazing, talented and kind teachers. Isaac Newton once said, "If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants." With so much gratitude I share what I've learned with compassion & enthusiasm. I'm so excited to now be a part of the Grassroots Yoga family!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE YOGA POSE?
My favorite yoga pose is Triangle because I love the way it opens my side body, makes space for deeper breath and leaves me feeling expansive and energized.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE YOGA/SPIRITUALITY/SELF HELP BOOK?

"Be Here Now" by Ram Dass - This magical book found me just when I needed it and laid out a path for me. It's wisdom and understanding piqued my curiosity to further delve into a rich and fulfilling life.

ANY ADVICE FOR BEGINNERS?
Start where you're at and come to the mat exactly as you are. Trust the process: It's a practice, not a yoga "perfect."

WHAT DOES “COMMUNITY” MEAN TO YOU?
Community to me is a group of individuals who fully see, hear and celebrate each other for who they are. There is a sense of complete BELONGING and compassion.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT VENTURA?
I love the laid-back beachy vibes, the quirky hangout spots and how you can enjoy the beach AND mountains all in one day.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION?
The Boys & Girls Club of Ventura
