WHERE WERE YOU BORN AND RAISED?
I was born in Oxnard and raised in the Ventura County area. I have always felt like Ventura is home.

TELL US A BRIEF HISTORY OF YOUR PERSONAL PRACTICE
Yoga had been introduced to me when I was a teenager but it was not until my early 20’s that I began a regular practice. I started taking a Hatha Yoga class at a local gym in Oxnard. Something about the teacher really resonated with me and the practice of Yoga captivated me from that point on. I am forever grateful to that teacher and I can only hope that I have an opportunity to impact some of my students the way she impacted me. I initially fell in love with the physical practice and over time I noticed the subtle changes I felt mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Yoga for me is a lifelong practice and journey that I am so grateful to be on.

TELL US A BRIEF HISTORY OF YOUR TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I began teaching Yoga in 2018 while living on the Big Island of Hawaii. Being able to share the practice of Yoga felt like a gift and I knew I wanted to continue to learn and expand on my knowledge to share this with my students. Once I moved back to California, I continued teaching at a studio in Northern California. I have experience teaching Yoga Sculpt, Vinyasa, Power Flow, Gentle Flow, Deep Stretch, Yin, Restorative Yoga and Buddhi. I am thrilled to begin teaching classes at Grass Roots Yoga!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE YOGA POSE?
My favorite Yoga pose is Dancer’s Pose, Natarajasana. The combination of the backbend and balance while opening through the front body feels so amazing to me.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE YOGA/SPIRITUALITY/SELF HELP BOOK?

The Heart of The Buddha’s Teaching by Thich Naht Hanh is a great one. The book offers insights into compassion, living in the present moment, and releasing from the ego in accessible ways. The tone of the book is gentle yet powerful and beautifully transformational.

ANY ADVICE FOR BEGINNERS?
Yoga has a place for everyone, there is a Yoga practice out there that will meet you where you are at. I welcome everyone to give it a try with an open mind and have fun with it. If you are a

beginner, I encourage you to look at a new Yoga practice as a way to create space to give back to yourself, you deserve it.

WHAT DOES “COMMUNITY” MEAN TO YOU?
Community is so important to me. To put it very simply, people need people and we are all better off when we have supportive and uplifting people surrounding us. I am so grateful to be a part of the Ventura community and Grass Roots Yoga!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT VENTURA?
I love so many things about Ventura! The natural beauty that surrounds us is so special and the access we have to the mountains and ocean is amazing. If I had to choose one favorite thing, I would have to say the beautiful ocean and proximity to the Channel Islands! Ventura is a true gem.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION? (preferably something local)
I love The MERITO Foundation! They are a local Non-Profit that is committed to ocean conservation, research, and education. They have Environmental Education Youth programs that I was fortunate enough to be a part of when I was working with Island Packers. To see firsthand the positive impact it had on local youth was so powerful.
