WHERE WERE YOU BORN/RAISED?
I was born in Ohio & moved to the Bay Area when I was 5 years old.

TELL US A BRIEF HISTORY OF YOUR PERSONAL PRACTICE
My first 2 loves were ice skating and dance, Yoga came in so naturally for me because of my dance background. But it wasn’t until 9 years ago when I stepped into a Baptiste Vinyasa Hot Yoga studio and my world was rocked! I didn’t know if I was gonna pass out or throw up in my first 5 minutes. My mind wanted to walk out of the class but thank goodness my body stayed. And I just kept coming back! I am a busy Mama of 3 kiddos under 5 so Yoga is a MUST for me!! I love all types of yoga but love the challenge to my mind and body in a Power Flow class.

TELL US A BRIEF HISTORY OF YOUR TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have been teaching now for a little over 2 years. Teaching has been similar to yoga for me that it’s a challenge for my body & mind. It’s a great way to be present in my body & be aware to what’s happening in the moment. RYT-200, MyoFascial Release 25hr

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE YOGA POSE?
I LOVE Supta Baddha Konasana. It feels so great in my body & especially on my lower back & such a great hip opener too!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE YOGA/SPIRITUALITY/SELF HELP BOOK?
“Journey Into Power” by Baron Baptiste. This book was a huge part of my teacher training and I have been so inspired by Baptiste teachings & his methodology of Yoga. It’s kickass inspirational Yoga.
This is One of my favorite quotes from the book and speaks so clearly to me! “Having the courage to be honest and be who you are in every moment, to follow your heart, listen to and act on the promptings of your own intuition “

ANY ADVICE FOR BEGINNERS?
Don’t take yourself too seriously. If you are breathing you are doing it right! Let go of whatever your mind is telling you and just breathe! You are so much stronger than you think! Keep coming back and you will notice major improvements in so many different areas of yourself!

WHAT DOES “COMMUNITY” MEAN TO YOU?
Community to me is everything! We are so much stronger together than when we are standing alone.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT VENTURA?
Rice by Mama! Oh wait a minute, not food…haha! This town is awesome. I love how small Ventura is and how family friendly it is. I am so blessed to live here and raise my kiddos here!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION?
Casa Serena is near and dear to my heart. It helps so many women get the help and foundation they need to be sober and turn their lives around.
