TELL A BRIEF HISTORY OF YOUR PERSONAL PRACTICE
My journey began in 2015. I started to frequent Yoga by the Sea classes which sparked my desire to learn more about the asanas. I used youtube as a guide to learn movement to name and how to execute postures.Once I joined a yoga studio I fell in love with the variety of styles of yoga. Especially warm and hot yoga.

TELL A BRIEF HISTORY OF YOUR TEACHING EXPERIENCE
In March 2017 I received my 200 hr RYT certificate. While in training I started teaching my friends family whoever that would let me! Immediately after teacher training I started teaching studio classes. I teach an array of classes. Yin, hot, vinyasa, and a fusion between hot and vinyasa yoga.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE YOGA POSE AND WHY?
Oh Boy! For me that changes often. As of right now I really enjoy one legged balancing poses. Since they are the hardest for me. Like dancers, eagle, warrior 3. For me to equally balance on my right to left has been a huge challenge for me that’s made me present to my practice and present to my life.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE YOGA/SELF HELP/SPIRITUALITY BOOK AND WHY?
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

This book came to me when I was in rough patch. I was feeling stuck, unsure, fearful, and really confused about my life. This book was the shimmer of light I needed to help guide me to the other side. This quote in particular helped kick me into gear. “Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of the search is a second’s encounter with God and with eternity.”

WHAT IS YOUR ADVICE FOR BEGINNERS?
Have fun, giggle at yourself, and don’t forget to BREATH!

WHAT DOES COMMUNITY MEAN TO YOU?
Celebration of diversity! I like to think life is the diverse rainbow between black and white thinking. To much time spent in the extremes the glory of the rainbow is missed.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT VENTURA?
Early morning walks to the cross. I love the way Ventura looks before the city fully wakes up and the dew of the morning shines as the sun hits. Pure magic!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION?
The Arc of Ventura County. It’s a non profit organization that empowers the lives of individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities. You might know it from the thrift store on Main Street. But there’s so much more! The Arc provides day programs, assisted living, jobs, and an independent integrated community life for all that are apart of their programs. I worked for the organization for 7 plus years and really cherished my time there. Especially at the Arcade and Ojai facilities.
