WHERE WERE YOU BORN/RAISED?
Sterling Heights, MI

TELL A BRIEF HISTORY OF YOUR PERSONAL PRACTICE
I was initially introduced to yoga in my senior year of high school but didn’t gain a consistent practice until I moved to CA in 2008. I was hooked! It all started with a Bikrahm practice and then finding my way to a deep love for Vinyasa Flow. Practicing under the same studio and teachers for 5 years, led me to their teach training program.

TELL A BRIEF HISTORY OF YOUR TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I graduated in December of 2017 and hopped right into teaching, it was the final piece of this chapters puzzle. Teaching friends and family as much as I could during training and then once graduated, teaching classes at Yoga Jones in Ventura. RYT-200, MyoFascial Release 25hr.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE YOGA POSE AND WHY?
Dhanurasana and to be honest it hasn’t always been! This pose activates both the front and back side of the body, engaging almost every muscle while opening the heart and shoulders. The blood gets flowing and I feel invigorated after!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE YOGA/SELF HELP/SPIRITUALITY BOOK AND WHY?
Currently at the top of the pile is Meditations from the Mat by Rolf Gates.

WHAT IS YOUR ADVICE FOR BEGINNERS?
To come with an open mind! Yoga has become much more mainstream over the years and I think we tend to get intimated with what we see on TV or social media. Each of us has a unique practice, which will look very different from the other people in the room. Turn your focus inward and of course, have fun!

WHAT DOES COMMUNITY MEAN TO YOU?
Simply everything. Growing up in a small town in MI, we were surrounded by family and friends, with endless support. Living in Los Angeles for 9 years, I didn’t know that I had lost that sense of community until I moved to Ventura.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT VENTURA?
The people… everyone here is so kind and supportive with big open hearts. It is like we are all working towards the same unspoken goal, to keep Ventura thriving.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION?
The Young and Brave: They help young adults, children and families whom have been diagnosed with cancer. Their work has raised over a million dollars and helped hundreds of families.
